တတ္လွစြာေသာ ေစာင္းသမားသည္ ေစာင္းႏွင့္ငါးရက္ ကင္းကြာမူ ေစာင္းတီးပ်က္တတ္၏။

တတ္လွစြာေသာ ေလးသမားသည္ ေလးႏွင့္ ခုႏွစ္ရက္ ကင္းကြာမူ ေလးျမားခ်ိန္သား ပ်က္တတ္၏။

အိမ္သူမယားေကာင္းသည္ လင္နွင့္ တစ္လကင္းကြာမူ အမူအက်င့္ေဖာက္ျပားတတ္၏။

တပည့္တို႕သည္ကား ဆရာႏွင့္ တစ္လခဲြမွ် ကင္းကြာမူ ပညာရည္ပ်က္တတ္၏။

• A good harpist may lose skill after separation of five days from harp.
• A good archer may lose skill after separation of seven days from bow.
• A good wife may lose in the haviour after separation of one month from her husband.
• Pupils may lose in qualification after separation of about half a month from teacher.

• ကြၽဲသည္ ရြံ႕ညြန္၌သာ ေမြ႕ေလ်ာ္၏။
• ဟသၤာသည္ ေရကန္၌သာ ေမြ႕ေလ်ာ္၏။
• မိန္းမသည္ ေယာက်ာ္း၌သာ ေမြ႕ေလ်ာ္၏။
• ရဟန္းသည္ တရား၌သာ ေမြ႕ေလ်ာ္၏။

• Buffalo delights in mud.
• Duck delights in pond.
• Woman delights in man.
• Priest delights in virtue. (Dhamma)

• ထမင္းကုိ အစာေၾကမွ ခ်ီးမြမ္းရာ၏။
• မယားကို အရြယ္လြန္မွ ခ်ီးမြမ္းရာ၏။
• စစ္သည္ ရဲမက္ကို စစ္ေအာင္ၿပီးမွ ခ်ီးမြမ္းရာ၏။
• ေကာက္ႏွံစပါးကို က်ီသို႕ေရာက္မွ ခ်ီးမြမ္းရာ၏။

• One should praise meal after being digested.
• One should praise wife after she is over age.
• One should praise solider after winning battle.
• One should praise paddy after being harvest and stored in ware-house.

• စာေပက်မ္းဂန္မႏာၱန္ဂါထာတို႕သည္ ရြတ္ဖတ္သရဇၥ်ာယ္ျခင္း မျပဳလွ်င္ ေပ်ာက္ပ်က္တတ္၏။
• ထၾကြလံု႕လ ၀ီရိယမရွိလွ်င္ စည္းစိမ္ဥစၥာသည္ ဆုတ္ယုတ္ကုန္ခန္းတတ္၏။

• Scriptures and mantras not recited get lost.
• Wealth, without being industrious may diminished and perish.

• အဆင္းလွသူအတြက္ ပ်င္းရိျခင္းသည္ အညစ္အေၾကးတည္း။
• တရား အားထုတ္ေသာ ရဟန္းအတြက္ ေမ့ေလ်ာ့ျခင္းသည္ အညစ္အေၾကးတည္း။

• Laziness is a taint to good appearance.
• Forgetfulness is a taint to the ascetic.

• လံု႕လမရွိေသာ သူတို႕၏ ဥစၥာကား လံု႕လၾကီးသူတို႕ထံ ဧကန္မလဲြေရာက္ျမဲျဖစ္၏။
• လူပ်င္းလူညံ့ တို႕သည္ကား အပတ္တကုတ္ အားမထုတ္ပဲ ေရွးအတိတ္ကံသာ အားကိုးရာ ပဓာနဟု ဆိုစမွတ္ျပဳၾကကုန္၏။

• The property of the non-industrious will inevitably get into the hands of the in dustrious.
• The lazy and stupid usually say that previous fate alone is enough to rely on without making any effort.

• လူေတာ္လူေကာင္းတို႕သည္ ျပဳဖြယ္ကိစၥ မွန္သမွ်ကို လံု႕လစိုက္ထုတ္အားထုတ္ၾကိဳးပမ္း စြမ္းစြမ္းတမံ ေဆာင္ရြက္တတ္ၾကကုန္၏။
• ၾကံတိုင္းမေအာင္ ေဆာင္တိုင္းမေျမာက္ခဲ့လွ်င္လည္း ကဲ့ရဲ႕ျငိဳျငင္ ျပစ္တင္ေဒါသ အဘယ္မွာလွ်င္ ခံရဖြယ္ရိွအံ့နည္း။

• The good and diligent put their energies into what ever they do.
• If all endeavours arrive at not fruitful end, no blame or anger is placed on the outcome.

သူေတာ္ေကာင္းတို႕၏ ဥစၥာသည္ နည္းပင္နည္းျငားေသာ္လည္း တြင္းမွရေသာ ေရခ်ိဳကဲ့သို႕ သူတစ္ပါးတို႕ ေသာက္သံုးမွီခိုရ၏ ။

မသူေတာ္တို႕ ဥစၥာသည္ကား မ်ားပင္မ်ားျငားေသာ္လည္း သမုဒၵရာ ေရကဲ့သို႕ ေသာက္၊ သံုး မွီခိုရာမရႏိုင္.။

Little as the wealth of the virtuous may be, it can be used as good water from a well.

But much as the wealth of the nonvirtuous can be not useful as water from the ocean.

ျမစ္တို႕သည္ ေရကို မေသာက္ကုန္။

သစ္ပင္တို႕သည္ အသီးကို မစားကုန္။

သူေတာ္ေကာင္းတို႕၏ ဥစၥာသည္လည္း သူတစ္ပါးတုိ႕၏ အက်ိဳးအတြက္ ျဖစ္၏။

Rivers do not drink water.

Trees do not eat fruit.

The wealth of the virtuous is for the benefit of others.

မေတာင့္တအပ္သည္ကို မေတာင့္တရာ။

မၾကံစည္အပ္သည္ကို မၾကံစည္ရာ။

တရားသျဖင့္သာလွ်င္ ေကာင္းစြာ ၾကံစည္ရာ၏။

အခ်ိန္ကို အခ်ည္းႏွီးအလဟသာ မကုန္ဆံုးေစရာ။

Crave not for what should not.

Think not for what should not.

Think well in just way.

Do not pass away the time in futility.
အားလံုးကိုခ်စ္ခင္ေလးစားလွ်က္...

သစ္ပင္၏အရိပ္သည္ ေအးခ်မ္း၏

ထိုထက္ ေဆြမ်ိဳးမိဘအရိပ္က ပို၍ ေအးခ်မ္း၏

ထိုထက္ ဆရာသမားအရိပ္က ပို၍ ေအးခ်မ္း၏

ထိုထက္ ျမတ္စြာဘုရား အရိပ္က အဆမ်ားစြာသာလြန္ ေအးခ်မ္း၏

The refuge of the tree is cool.

Even more is the refuge of parents and relatives.

Even more is the refuge of the teacher.

Far more is the refuge of Buddha.

ပ်ားပိတုန္းတို႕သည္ ပန္းကို အလိုရွိကုန္၏

သူေတာ္ေကာင္းတို႕သည္ ဂုဏ္ေက်းဇူးကို အလိုရွိကုန္၏

ယင္ေကာင္တို႕သည္ အပုပ္ကို အလိုရွိကုန္၏

သူယုတ္တို႕သည္ အမ်က္ေဒါသကို အလိုရွိကုန္၏

Bees want flowers.

The virtuous want virtue.

Flies want the putrid.

The wicked want anger.

အမိအဘတို႕၏ အဆံုးအမကို မရမူ ကိုႏႈတ္အမူအရာ ၾကမ္းတမ္း၏

အမိအဘတို႕၏ အဆံုးအမကို ေကာင္းစြာရမူ ကိုယ္ႏႈတ္ အမူအရာ လိမၼာယဥ္ေက်း၏

Deprives of parental teachings, one tends to be harsh in words and deeds.

Benefited by parental teachings one is gentle in words and deeds.

အမ်က္ေဒါသကို ေျဖေဖ်ာက္ႏိုင္လွ်င္ စိုးရိမ္ျခင္း ကင္းရ၏

သူ႕ေက်းဇူးကို ဆိုတတ္လွ်င္ သူေတာ္ေကာင္းတို႕ ခ်ီးမြမ္းကုန္၏

ၾကမ္းၾကဳတ္ေသာ စကားကို သည္းခံျခင္းသည္ ျမတ္၏

Dissolving anger frees one from worry.

Expressing one's gratitude is praised by the virtuous.

Tolerating rude words is virtuous.

အားလံုးကိုခ်စ္ခင္ေလးစားလွ်က္...

မိန္းမ၌ တပ္မက္လြန္ၾကဴးမူသိကၡာ သီလမရွိႏိုင္။

သူ႕အသက္ သူ႕အသား အစားလြန္ၾကဴးမူ အသနားမရွိႏိုင္။

အရက္ေသစာ အေသာက္အစားလြန္ၾကဴးမူ စကားမမွန္ႏိုင္။

ေလာဘရမၼက္ ၾကီးလြန္းမူ အရွက္ မရွိႏိုင္။

အပ်င္းၾကီးလြန္းမူ အတတ္ပညာ မဆည္းပူးႏိုင္။

The over-sexed has no honour.

The over-carnivorous has no pity.

The over-imbibed has no truthful world.

The over-avariced has no shame.

The over-lazy has no education

ဥစၥာစည္းစိမ္ ပ်က္စီးဆံုးရႈံးရျခင္း၏ အေၾကာင္းရင္းတို႕သည္ကား -

အရက္ေသစာ အေသာက္အစားလြန္ၾကဴးျခင္း။

အခ်ိန္အခါမဟုတ္ အလည္အပတ္အသြားအလာမ်ားျခင္း။

သဘင္ပဲြလမ္း အေပ်ာ္အပါး အသြားအလာမ်ားျခင္း။

အေလာင္းအစား ကစားမ်ားျခင္း ။

မေကာင္းေသာ အေဆြခင္ပြန္းတို႕၌ အေပါင္းအေဖာ္မ်ားျခင္း။

ထၾကြလံု႕လမရွိ ပ်င္းရိဖင့္ႏဲြ႕ျခင္း ။

- တို႕ေပတည္း။

The causes of ruin are-

Over-intoxication.

Over- indulgence in untimely visits.

Over-enjoyment of entertaining pleasure.

Over-gambling.

Over-association with the bad.

Over-procrastination and laziness.

အားလံုးကိုခ်စ္ခင္ေလးစားလွ်က္...

ေယာက္မသည္ ဟင္း၏ အရသာကို မသိသကဲ့သို႕ သူမိုက္သည္ ပညာရွိအား အသက္ထက္ဆံုး ဆည္းကပ္ေသာ္လည္း သူေတာ္ေကာင္းတရားကို မသိေခ်။

လွ်ာသည္ ဟင္း၏ အရသာကို သိသကဲ့သို႕ လိမၼာေရးျခားရွိသူသည္ ပညာရွိအား တစ္ခဏမွ် ဆည္းကပ္ရမူ သူေတာ္ေကာင္းတရားကို လ်င္ျမန္စြာ သိ၏။

Just as the ladle knows not the taste of the curry, the foolish knows not Dhamma, even though close to the wise for life.

Just as the tongue knows the taste of the curry, so also does the clever one know the Dhamma promptly, even by associating shortly with the wise.

လက္နက္မပါဘဲ စစ္ေျမသို႕ မသြားရာ။

က်န္းဂန္ အေထာက္အထား မရွိဘဲ စကားမဆိုရာ။

အေဖာ္မပါဘဲ ခရီးေ၀းမသြားရာ။

Go not to the battle field without arms.

Speak not without references to treatises.

Travel not afar without companion.

အေရးအခြင့္ ေရာက္သည္ႏွင့္ ေလ်ာ္ကန္ေသာ စကားကို ေျပာဆိုရာ၏။

ကိုယ္နွင့္ ေလ်ာက္ပတ္ေသာ ခ်စ္အပ္သူကို ရွာရာ၏။

Speak appropriately when opportune.

Fine one who is suited and should be loved.

အားလံုးကိုခ်စ္ခင္ေလးစားလွ်က္...

ဖုန္းေတာင္းယာစကာမ်ားအဖို႕ ေန႕ေရာညပါ အိပ္စက္ၾကေစကာမူ ၊

သာမန္ ရပ္သူရြာသားမ်ား အဖို႕ ညဥ့္သံုးယာမ္စလံုး အိပ္စက္ၾကေစကာမူ၊

မွဴးမတ္ ပညာရွိမ်ားသည္ကား ညဥ့္သံုးယာမ္တြင္ ႏွစ္ယာမ္သာလွ်င္ အိပ္စက္ရာ၏၊

ျပည့္ရွင္မင္းသည္ကား ညဥ့္သံုးယာမ္တြင္ တစ္ယာမ္သာလွ်င္ အိပ္စက္ရာ၏

Though beggars sleep day and night,

The commons sleep the entire night,

The ministers and the wise may sleep two watches,

And the king but one.

ပစၥည္း ဥစၥာၾကြယ္၀ခ်မ္းသာသူလည္း မရွိေသာ၊

အၾကားအျမင္ႏွင့္ ျပည့္စံုသူ ပညာရွိသူလည္း မရွိေသာ၊

အုပ္စုိးသူမင္းအစိုးရလည္းမရွိေသာ၊

ျမစ္ေၾကာင္းကန္ေခ်ာင္းလည္းမရွိေသာ၊

ေဆး၀ါးသမားလည္းမရွိေသာ၊

ဤအရပ္ေဒသမ်ိဳးတြင္ တစ္ေန႕တစ္ရက္မွ် အေျခခ်မေနအပ္။

One should not live even a day in a place-

Without the wealthy,

Without the learned,

Without government,

Without rivers,

Without medicines and physicians.

ျမတ္ႏိုးသူမရွိေသာ အရပ္၊

ခ်စ္ခင္သူမရွိေသာအရပ္၊

အေဆြခင္ပြန္းမရွိေသာအရပ္၊

အတတ္ပညာ သင္ၾကားေပးသူ မရွိေသာအရပ္၊

ထိုအရပ္မ်ိဳး၌ တစ္ေန႕တစ္ရက္မွ် မေနအပ္။

One should not stay even a day in a place.

Without person adored,

Without person attached,

Without relative,

Without teacher.

အားလံုးကိုခ်စ္ခင္ေလးစားလွ်က္...
